If you are a true sports fan you most always find ways to compare your current team to previous champions in order to give yourself hope, and enough reason to watch 82 games. I think I finally found the team that seems to be the foundation of the plan for Nico Harrison.
Let’s start by comparing the rosters on each team and see how they line up.
Starting with the point guard Kyrie Irving. Is this scenario Kyrie Irving is played by Kyrie Irving. If that isn’t the most perfect resemblance of a player then you probably won’t be able to agree with me on anything else for the rest of this article. It is pretty obvious that the mavericks version is the best version of Kyrie between the two.
Luka Doncic is clearly LeBron James in this scenario. Offensive their stats are eerily similar. Luka has LeBron beat in points, rebounds, assists, and age (the future is bright.) I will however give LeBron the edge on the defensive side here. I don’t think Luka is capable of a remarkable come from behind block to help save the day, but knows Luka pulls crazy plays out of his ass on a regular basis.
The next Cavaliers player on the list is JR Smith. Enter, Tim Hardaway Jr. If you have ever watched both of these players play the game of basketball it is clear to see they are the same thing. When these guys get hot they look like they could be some of the best shooters of all time. Regardless of how hot they get though I’m pretty sure both fan bases get a little nervous when either player has the ball in their hands because you just never know what the hell is about to come next. Sometimes it’s amazing, sometimes it’s terrible. Im sure all of the Cavs fans remember that Game 1 when LeBron completely dominated and JR forgot where he was at the end of that game. As a Mavs fan if Timmy did that I wouldn’t be shocked.
Kevin Love is a tougher comparison for me. I think you have to take Maxi Kleber and Derick Lively and combine them into one player creating Kevin Love. Maxi is clearly a very close comparison based on looks alone. Kevin Love word number 42 in every stop even college, besides Cleveland. Maxi can spread the floor like Kevin could, but you need to through in Derick lively just for the ability to rebound at the capacity that love can.
Iman Shumpert and Derrick Jones Jr are clearly the same players in size, skills, and amount of tattoos it’s amazingly spot on. Shumpert got selected for a slam dunk contest, but was unable to compete because of injury. Jones JR is a slam dunk champion. Do I need to even continue?
Matthew Dellevadova is Josh Green. They are both hard working men from the land down under. Both fan bases would probably say the best attribute about each player is effort. That is a hard stat to quantify in box scores, but real fans can see it.
Both teams are even coached by retired NBA point guards who won championships as players.
