Obviously everyone is speculating as to what is the main reasoning for Mark Cuban selling the team in a seemingly out of no where deal. Thankfully I am here to connect all of the wild dots and turn it into a clear picture like the back of a Chili’s kids menu. 

Recently I listened to the All the Smoke podcast featuring Cuban, and he first talked about how next year being his final season of Shark Tank. Interesting. Then he went on to talk about TV deals for the NBA and how he doesn’t believe they can keep going up like they have been. Which is pretty clear to anyone paying attention to anything. Has Cuban given up on all things tv all together? He has been trying to cut ties completely with Bally Sports after this season as well. Interesting. 

He also went on to talk about if TV deals can’t keep going up in value like they have been, the NBA will have to lean on new avenues of revenue generating abilities. Duh. He sees a future where teams develop in the real estate and gambling world. Which is clearly a good financial decision. Las Vegas prints money from sand out of the desert literally. 

So, how is it possible to legalize gambling in the great state of Texas? Thats a good question that I am certainly unqualified to answer, but I’m going to try my hardest to guess. I am not exactly sure how it all works. I am sure laws are bought by lobbyist at some capacity. I am not really an investigative journalist, nor do I watch the news, or know anything actually about rules and regulations. I do know that money talks and bullshit walks though. 

I do know for a fact that if anyone knows how to buy a law it has to be Miriam Adelson. What makes this woman capable of making this happen? Well for starters she is a HUGE supporter of the Republican Party, and if you’ve never been to Texas they kind of run shit. She received a Medal of Freedom from President Trump in 2018. How does a billionaire wife of casino tycoon receive that award? I am assuming by being one of the largest donors to the Presidents campaign fund, but who knows. I’m also sure I could google it, but who has the time.  

Liberal Mark Cuban knew he was never going to be able to get through to governor Abbott by himself in order to make his dream of a casino resort super arena a reality.  How was he able to score the deal of a lifetime with the ultimate rich conservative casino tycoon billionaire woman that will still let him remain in control of all of the basketball operations though? What is in it for Mrs. Adelson? Does she get all the proceeds and Cuban just get to play NBA 2k in real life for free? 

Apparently Dan Patrick (not the sports host) has all the power to stop the gambling vote from going through, and has done so every time it has been proposed. Is Miriam going to get him killed in the next two years before the next voting cycle to ensure that the gambling vote hits the floor, and eventually gets passed. I am not saying she would ever do something like that I am sure she is a very nice and morally sound person. That is generally how I’ve always pictured all casino owners.

The more I write this the more I keep getting myself confused and am not sure I did a good job of connecting the dots. Instead I may have created even more dots, but I’m pretty sure you can see the end goal and you get the fucking point.
